This summer and autumn, our city has seen a certain degree of increase in ozone pollution compared to the same period last year. In response, our city has comprehensively strengthened pollution control in three major areas: industry, transportation, and non-point source pollution from daily life.
In the industrial sector, our city has made it clear that by the end of this year, the treatment of volatile organic compound pollution in industries such as petrochemicals and coal chemicals, fine chemicals, industrial painting, packaging printing, and rubber products will be completed. After preliminary investigations, a list of enterprises emitting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) has been initially established, totaling 408 enterprises. These are mainly chemical enterprises such as paint, ink, synthetic leather, rubber products, plastic products, and chemical fiber production, as well as manufacturing and processing enterprises such as printing, furniture, steel structures, artificial boards, and injection molding. 219 enterprises have completed the treatment of volatile organic compounds as required, and those that have not completed the treatment have all been shut down for rectification.
In terms of transportation pollution control, in addition to strengthening oil control, our city requires that by the end of the year, fixed or mobile remote sensing monitoring equipment will be installed to screen diesel trucks and high-emission gasoline vehicles. Exhaust gas inspections will be conducted on road sections with a high frequency of heavy-duty diesel vehicles, and the use of high-emission engineering machinery that emits black smoke will be prohibited in urban built-up areas. Recently, the city's traffic police and environmental protection departments have jointly formed six inspection teams to inspect the use of high-emission non-road mobile machinery, ordering construction sites to remove and stop using high-pollution emission vehicles.
In terms of non-point source pollution control from daily life, our city is comprehensively promoting the treatment of volatile organic compounds from sources such as building decoration, auto repair, dry cleaning, and catering. Since early June, led by the Office of the Leading Group for Environmental Quality Improvement, with the cooperation of the city's urban management, environmental protection, food and drug supervision, and industrial and commercial departments, a comprehensive and concentrated rectification campaign has been launched against illegal acts such as roadside open-air barbecues and the emission of fumes without oil fume purification equipment within the built-up area. Nearly a thousand barbecue stalls have been rectified and standardized, and all barbecue restaurants have installed oil fume purification facilities.
